Quarry Solar Farm
Unlocking enough clean domestic energy to meet the equivalent annual needs of over 15,000 Oxfordshire homes
The Need For Solar
The UK has made a legally binding commitment to achieve a net zero fully decarbonised power system by 2035. This can only be achieved with the adoption and roll-out of reliable, affordable, clean energy sources such as solar.
West Oxfordshire Council declared a climate and ecological emergency in 2020 and set a target for the District to lead the way and become climate neutral by 2030. Solar farms, such as Quarry Solar Farm, will make a meaningful contribution to the local, and national, climate commitments.
Our Proposals
- Quarry Solar Farm would be located north east of Witney, east of Hailey and Poffley End and south west of New Yatt and North Leigh in Oxfordshire.
- The planned solar farm would generate electricity for over 15,000 Oxfordshire homes and CO2 savings of over 919,000 tonnes which equates to planting 19 million trees.
- We are also planning to install batteries to store electricity which can be fed back into the local energy network to help balance the grid at times of high demand.
- Ahead of the submission of the revised plans, we want to hear from you. Please complete the feedback form under the have your say button and let us know your thoughts. The public consultation period closes on Wednesday 28 February 2024.
